Free Fire India Glossary: Booyah, Gloo Wall and Ping Terms
Free Fire terms explained: Booyah, BR, CS, Gloo Wall, Revival, Safe Zone, Loadout, OB and Rank, plus quick ping types and HUD settings wording, with version notes.
This page turns the English words that keep appearing in matches, guides and videos — and keep getting confused — into a table you can look up directly. Each row has three columns: the term, an explanation, and caveats. The explanation column is a meaning, not the official in-game name — in-game wording follows the current version, and the same feature may be worded differently across versions and regions. The caveats column specifically flags the items that “change with the version”, so phrasing from an old guide is not taken for a current rule.
How do I use this table?
- Read the English first, then the meaning. Teammate pings, video commentary and official patch notes mostly use English or abbreviations; remembering only a translated name will fail you after the next version.
- The caveats column matters more than the explanation column. The explanation tells you what the word refers to; the caveat tells you when it changes.
- No numbers on this page. Durability, damage, counts and score values are adjusted with versions and need checking in your own client.
Evidence level: Unverified — This page only explains meanings and gives no values; specific values follow what the Indian-version client currently displays.
Match results and modes
| Term | Meaning | Caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Booyah | The on-screen message when you win a match; effectively “this match is won” | In-game wording follows the current version; win conditions differ by mode, so do not treat it as a tier or an achievement name |
| BR / Battle Royale | Battle Royale: drop, collect loot, avoid the zone, be the last one standing | Mode rules change with versions; the actual player counts, duration and map pool follow the client |
| CS / Clash Squad | Clash Squad: played in rounds, with resources allocated and gear bought before each round | Not the same “CS” as in esports contexts; map availability and gear prices must be checked per season |
| Bomb Squad | A mode whose objective is planting and defusing a bomb | Do not apply CS defuse and revive rules; whether the Indian version has an entry point is unverified |
| Craftland | A system where players create their own maps and gameplay | Creations are user-generated content, involving copyright and reports, see Craftland creation system |
| Lone Wolf | A small-scale duel mode independent of BR and CS | Mode size, entry point and availability change with versions; OB55 once mentioned that Duel of Honor’s 1v1 feature can be enabled in mode selection or in specific custom rooms |
Combat and resources
| Term | Meaning | Caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Gloo Wall | A temporary cover wall: thrown out to spawn a wall that can be destroyed | Durability, carry count and the pre-placement damage handling all change with versions and need testing |
| Revival / Revive | Two different things: Revive gets a knocked-down teammate back up; Revival returns you to the match after elimination | Which modes have Revival, how many Revivals you get and what they cost change with versions; the two must not be used interchangeably |
| Drop | The landing spot when you drop; people say “where do we drop” | The landing spot sets the opening tempo and depends on the flight path and terrain, see Map overview |
| Loot | The gear and resources you pick up, and also the act of looting | “Loot faster” means looting speed; region-specific wording can stay in English |
| Safe Zone | Safe Zone: areas outside the zone deal damage | Damage values and zone-shrink timing change with versions |
| Loadout / Preset | Pre-match configuration and presets, for example the combination of character skills and gear | Skill rules must be checked against the version, and the preset page structure has also been adjusted |
Progress and versions
| Term | Meaning | Caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Patch / OB | Update patches and version numbers, for example OB52, OB55 | Do not assume the global and Indian versions are in sync; when you see an OB number, first confirm which version line it belongs to |
| Rank / Season | Ranked tiers and seasons | The tier chain, settlement and reward conditions should be checked in that season’s notes; a tier that temporarily does not display does not necessarily mean you dropped |
| Honor Score | A score that affects ranked and teaming permissions | The full score and recovery speed belong to a specific source version and must be checked in the client’s FAIRGAME interface |
| Armory / Gunsmith | The weapon vault and the system that combines weapon appearance with attributes | Screenshot reviews should record the skin and the attribute plan; appearance alone cannot tell you combat attributes |
What kinds of information can quick pings (Pin) send?
A 2023 official patch described that dragging a Pin onto a resource, the map or the HUD sends the corresponding information, which may include skill cooldown, a request for healing, Gold, Gloo or ammo. This is a historical feature description and is very useful for team communication, but button positions and the items you can send still need checking in the current client.
| Ping type | What it conveys | Usage note |
|---|---|---|
| Skill cooldown | How long until your skill is ready | Cooldowns change with characters and versions; a ping is a hint, not a promise |
| Healing request | That you need healing or teammate support | Take cover first, then ping; shouting a need gets you focused down |
| Gold | The economy situation during the CS buy phase | Related to economy allocation; specific prices should be checked per season |
| Gloo | How many walls you have left | Count and durability change with versions |
| Ammo | That you are short of ammo | Faster than describing it by voice when a long gun runs dry |
The general principle of pinging is just one: include “location + what I need” instead of only shouting “enemy here”. Handling feel and button layout belong to Sensitivity, HUD and graphics.
Settings and HUD terms
| Term | Meaning | Caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Sensitivity | Sensitivity: how fast the camera and firing turn | The range has changed (an official patch once raised the cap to 200), so the 0–100 values in old guides cannot be compared directly |
| Controls | The group that holds key and control settings | Group names and hierarchy may change with versions; when you cannot find something, look by group first |
| Information | The group for on-screen notification displays | Same as above; specific entries follow the client |
| Auto Pickup | Auto-pickup: picking items up automatically when you walk near | Rules are adjustable, and different settings change what you end up picking up |
| Vibration | Vibration feedback | Device and system support differ, so not every device has it |
| HUD | Layout: button position, size, transparency | A share code only moves the layout and does not solve feel adaptation |
| HUD share code | A layout code string you can import | Not an account credential; you can choose whether to sync sensitivity when importing |
| FPP / first person | First-person view | Do not use first-person sensitivity as a universal third-person value |
| Experimental Frame Rate Boost | The experimental frame-rate boost inside the high-frame-rate mode | Not every device can run it fully; heat and battery use need testing |
| Training Ground | The shooting range and practice area | Training Ground cooldown, resources and revival rules may not equal BR or CS, so a test report must state the scene |
Which terms are most often misunderstood?
- CS: Clash Squad in the game and CS as an esports format abbreviation are two different things; mixing them makes “CS format” and “CS ranked” point at entirely different things.
- Revival vs Revive: getting a knocked-down teammate back up and returning to the match after elimination are two different rules; mixing them in a guide misleads readers about the cost.
- OB numbers: global OB55 does not mean the Indian version launched the same content on the same day; for the version mapping see Versions and events archive.
- MAX and FFI: MAX describes the global version’s graphics and effects experience and is not the standalone Indian version; whether accounts and progress interoperate must be confirmed separately.
- Booyah: it is an on-screen message, not a tier, not an achievement name, and not a rule exclusive to one mode.
What if I cannot remember the terms?
You do not need to memorize them. The real entry points are three places: the mode list in the client, the settings groups, and the exact wording in official patch notes. For beginners the suggested order is to run through Beginner training flow first and then come back to this table — terms only land once you have hands-on experience. For weapon and distance terms, see Weapon mechanics; for the differences in mode rules themselves, see Special modes archive.

Unverified items:
- Every explanation here is this site’s own reading, not an official translation; the actual in-game wording follows the current Indian-version client.
- Whether the Indian version has HUD share codes, the frame-rate boost, first person or the Training Ground panels has not been checked in the client this round.
- Values such as Gloo Wall durability, carry count, Safe Zone damage and Revival count change with versions, so this page gives no specific numbers.
- Quick ping button positions and the items currently available to send need rechecking; the 2023 patch note only proves the design at that time.
